There Are Many Shades of Purple

I am fond of wacky/bold shades of nail colours and lip colours. I don't really wear lipstick that often. On a daily basis for a college student sleep is the priority apart from well occasionally wondering about the future and where we are headed and what job(if any) will land on our lazy laps - all that jazz you know. But for rare occasions I like dressing up and I don't mind if someone stares at my bold red lips or exaggerated winged liner. I have been there and I have actually taken that as a compliment.

Remember this post where I mentioned I bought the Lakme Enrich Matte 254 shade?

Here's how it looks under flash (had poor lighting so had to use flash) otherwise it's a very dark purple actually. It is a matte shade but is very light on the lips. It feels so light. You have to be careful with drinking and eating while the colour's on because of course it leaves a mark. But since it's so dark it doesn't fade away easily. It is relatively easier to take off than my red lip colour. I just use those make-up remover tissues you get at stores. At Rs.225 it is very much affordable. I love the shade. I give it a 5/5.
And oh that's the Avon Simply Pretty Big Eye Pencil (emerald) on my eyelids. It's quite easy to put on and sometimes I go out with just that and kajal if I am in the mood for a little colour on my face but nothing too dramatic.

This is not really out of my comfort zone(sleeveless tops is totally out of it though) but I know bold shades are considered out of zone stuff. But we all have something which is out of our comfort zone.
Since we are talking colours - What is the bold shade of your choice?

  5. i knew it!
the color is gorgeous on you!!!! ^-^
i know Lakme is a quite common name in indian, but it sounds so beautiful to me. Lakme is a beautiful coloratura character in the opera "Lakme" by Delibes.
the story is crap (basically another version of madam butterfly..) but the music is undeniably beautiful..

  7. Debi, that's a really cool shade. I thought it would be much deeper and darker. I had a purple lipstick that was DARK. hahaha I would sport it and always get looks (good ones). It was BOLD but very PLUM! Everyone use to say, only YOU can pull that off. Of course I was much thinner and wear my wingtip eyeliner with it. HaHa You asked me about my exercise regime. I'm only walking right now. So I do about 2-3 miles a day on my treadmill at home for 4-5 days a week. I just started so I'm trying to get in a groove. Walking is cheap and easy on your joints girl. Also incorporating less packaged foods in my diet (see today's post). Hope all is well girlfriend! You look great!

  8. The lipstick looks great on you! Bold colors look fantastic on Indian skin and hair, I think. Thanks for the 11 questions tag! I will definitely look into it, though it may take a while. I'm packing and moving things daily ... Will lose my computer access this weekend too but am keeping my fingers crossed it will re-surface intact.

You know, your posts are not showing up on my Bloglovin' screen though I am following you there (and it says so). Very weird ... Any clues on why since I know you are more tech savvy than I am? (Forgive me if that seems a racial assumption, like saying the Chinese are all good at Math. But I do know you are good at this stuff!)

    Hope you are well! xxx

  9. I used to think bright coloured shades were the hardest to pull off but as I get older darker shades are definitely more challenging. This is a great look Debi! I think the dark aubergine colour suits you!
