I Touch You And You Turn To Dust

Will: At some point, Kalinda, you're going to have to confide in someone.
Kalinda: No, I don't. You know what I discovered? I never have to confide in anyone.
~
The Good Wife

People will judge you no matter what you do or say.  They will place blame, make you doubt yourself, carve out a slice of your happiness and destroy it, but never will they acknowledge that they fell short as well. It will be easy to say that these people are taking the easy way out. But, life is not easy. Nothing in it is easy. People torture themselves in their own ways. You may think, if only you could explain, explain it all, and it would be perfect once again. But, trust once lost is hard to regain. You cannot tell them that, that won't make them see their own ways any clearer, it will drive them further away. It's better not to confide in anyone, not all the time anyway.

a monk at the Kagyu Thekchenling Institute in Lava - wish I could rest my itchy feet and travel to places like this again

I am not that great at managing time. I wish I was better. And I am hoping I can work on it. But, every time I feel like I am making progress, that I can finally devote equal amounts of quality time to work and play, something goes wrong and there I am running late for everything once more with a side dish of bad mood. At this pace I will be late for dying as well. Will I be able to ask Death for just a few more moments because I am running late? I do hope so. I will finish a book then.

Grains Of The Golden Sand

And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand--
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep--while I weep!

You Have It Very Easy

Everyone knows the power of things: life is solidified in them, more immediately present than in any one of its instants.

I am in love with this dress. Under different lights the green looks different, not because of any photoshopping. I watched "The Kings of Summer" and was so very disappointed. Biaggio was an interesting character, but he was reduced to kind of a caricature of that weird, crackpot guy who says quirky, crackpot shit sometimes and everyone laughs, even though they feel awkward with his presence/statements. I can't believe some daft nincompoops have actually compared this to "Stand by Me". I hate films which pretend to be something they are not. This is a reason why I find it easier to watch very serious films or even very silly films as long as they are not pretending to be something else. Why does the world need to pretend so much about everything?! They promise something but they never deliver. But, then we realise we are the only ones complaining, this is what is expected of us too. So, we also start promising, knowing we won't deliver. Vicious cycle. Vicious.

Links I Love

  1. Do you know what psychopomps are? I tweeted today it's my word of the day. Read about 10 psychopomps from ancient mythology.
  2. The world is not skinny vs fat. "Bodies Aren't Ugly. Bullying Is" campaign created by  "The Militant Baker" is a powerful photo series. Check it out here. There has been 588 submissions as I type.
  3. The Outsider by Albert Camus is one of my favourite books. The Outsider (aka The Stranger) and other really short classics that you should read up without any excuses.
  4. This Pantene #WhipIt campaign made by BBDO Guerrero that beautifully shows the stereotypes both men & women view each other through.
  5. Did you know: the first interracial TV kiss was in 1968 between Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura in Star Trek. 10 memorable and defiant firsts in TV history.
  6. These women are the bomb!
  7. Loving these colour photos from the First World War.
  8. This tweet talking about the Indian politicians in the face of the recent LGBTQ debacle is appropriately funny.
  9. If you love Bollywood and think posters are an art form then this Minimal Bollywood Posters page is for you.

Inspiration

I must also have glitter confetti on my palms, a golden collar around my neck, golden eyebrows and a floral crown on my head.

Ghost World

As I sit here slurping my soup while instagramming it (like all self-righteous bloggers must do to their food) I cannot get this song out of my head, "Beautiful Soup" ♫ by the Mock Turtle. Heard as a kid this song has settled somewhere deep in my subconscious, it emerges from time to time in the form of silly photo captions though. This is the only memory I have of watching that particular "Alice in Wonderland".

I got this floral blazer from Persun. I was talking about not owning any proper blazers/jackets in this post. Now I have this and hopefully will get a few more soon. I quite like that it is not an outright and obvious floral pattern (even though I love those as well). I also like the colours in it, reminds me of Japanese cherry blossoms.

Random Photo Diary

A few snaps I have taken over the last few days. Enjoy and let me know what you like/hate/find amusing.

iron maiden tee
So the other day I got up on the rickshaw and saw my rickshaw-walah wearing this Iron Maiden t-shirt. Accessorised with a red gamchha. This is Indian street style people. It is original and you can find it anywhere if you just look around.
chicken thai green curry
Lately I have been hooked onto Chicken Thai Green Curry like crazy. It has become like my go to comfort food. I find chopping vegetables kind of therapeutic, a stress-buster of sorts. I cook only when I need to.
jellicoe road by melina marchetta
This book was a birthday gift (among others) from my best friend. "Jellicoe Road" by Melina Marchetta was such a heartwarmingly amazing read. It will take you back to all the crazy "adventures" you went onto growing up. All the muddy lanes and forgotten alleys, the shortest trails back to your place will all come vividly alive in your mind.

And...
coloured hair extensions
... look what arrived in the mail today! Can't wait to wear these extensions outside. c/o Romwe, shipped after 7 days of ordering, delivered after 10 days. I am as happy as a clam!

The Son Of Man

Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present.
-
Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte about his 1964 painting "The Son of Man".

The Son of Man ring

Got this ring from Quirky-me. I redeemed this with my chic points on Chictopia. It arrived a few days back in this little black box, within 15 days of shipping confirmation. And it is made of metal not plastic as I had thought it would be which is even better.
It's cool isn't it?

What I Need Is The Dandelion In The Spring

Floral motifs are nearly always perfect. Black lips as if kissed by darkness and death are perfect too. When things become too bright you need to shade your eyes or they will burn. Burn your enemies, ignite the fire in you to reach your goals. But at the end of it all you need hope to survive, not end up destructed in a pile of burnt bricks and rubble. Hope and faith and perhaps love.

I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring.

I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again...
