I Will Hold On Hope

I love the sound of Mumford & Sons. If you haven't heard of them, then please do. Especially check out this song that I linked to. Even the video is just so charming. I have been listening to them for so long. But, only saw this delightful video after someone shared it with me a few days back. It is just the right dose of kooky that I love so much.
The Cave
Coming to the outfit, I should mention this is my first true outfit photoshoot that has been shot outdoors. I was so bored of photographing in my room (even though it serves as a lovely backdrop). Unlike other times I did not feel awkward posing for my photographer in such a public place. Is it age or comfort? I don't know. I am getting old, that much is for sure. I get back pains way too often. Then again my perennial craving for all things chocolate has increased even more. I refuse to believe that is a sign of ageing.  At 5'2" I console myself, saying I am average height. But, one thing I realised after looking at these photos is that I am painfully short. Given how dreamy and bohemian I feel just looking at the outfit, I think the photos go perfectly with that theme.
About the clothes - I love this crochet cardigan to death. I think it is the prettiest and most delicate thing I own. The polka dotted pants are from Romwe. At first they were quite a disappointment, because even though it was mentioned they are harem pants, they looked way more fitted on the website. But, I have come to love it. These are now my stylish pyjamas. I wore these to work this week and felt so effing cool thinking "Yay I am so cool, I wear pyajamas and sneakers to office!"
I had also done a pop art-ish eyeliner look with this which unfortunately was ruined by the time we got around to the shoot. I am planning on doing a tutorial sort of on that look soon.

bye bye birdies

Don't Worry, Be Happy

Remember this ♫Bobby McFerrin♫song?
I don't remember ever not worrying. The worries go away temporarily (especially when I am in the company of someone or when I am listening to weirdly upbeat songs) but, they bounce right back. Has this ever happened with you that you saw someone smiling and looking happy in a picture and wondered how they do it? They make it look so easy. They make moving on and living life happily look reasonably easy. I swear to you, the more someone is capable of detachment, it is more easy for them to be without constant worry.

Where Do You Go To My Lovely

Where do you go to my lovely,
When you're alone in your bed?

This is a preview post. When I edited these photos I deliberately didn't crop out the chaotic background. I feel this way now. Chaos is all around, amidst all the pain I suddenly find peace. I cannot do more to control the situation. All I can do is somehow absorb all the happiness I am getting at this point, ignoring it will be sin, and I won't be worthy of asking for more if I can't appreciate it when I finally have some. You never know how long good things last for.
I am also entering this post for MisPapelicos' Share-in-Style:Pink.
Those pink lips and pink feather tips are the only pink things I own.
P.S. - The crochet is beautiful, right? It's from Sheinside. More details in the next post.

Bengal Fashion Week 2014 - Runway

I have finally edited the runway photos nicely enough, I didn't take as many as I did last time. I believe in taking fewer shots of things I like and taking good enough ones at that. So, I am finally going to apply that for fashion shows as well. But, all my not so good, but decent shots will feature on my facebook page soon enough. So keep your eyes open, (if you are interested).

A.D.Singh
His show started with a model doing a fusion dance performance to the instrumental version of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal". But, he won me over when for the final walk his models walked to this track from "The Last of the Mohicans" - ♫The Kiss

Monochrome, stripes and pop colours for make-up ruled his show. The make-up partner for the Bengal Fashion Week was The Body Shop, and the shades used in this show were from their Colour Crush Range. These are my favourite looks and prints from the show.

Now can you tell me which designers have shown footprints and cow prints before?
And since you all liked the backstage shots post, I have a few others for your eyes only coming up soon.

red hair, maxi skirt

I took this shot last week in an empty corridor running up to my department in my college. There is a stillness in this photo, a certain calmness and light that is very peaceful.

These Random Life Moments

Ghost World

As I sit here slurping my soup while instagramming it (like all self-righteous bloggers must do to their food) I cannot get this song out of my head, "Beautiful Soup" ♫ by the Mock Turtle. Heard as a kid this song has settled somewhere deep in my subconscious, it emerges from time to time in the form of silly photo captions though. This is the only memory I have of watching that particular "Alice in Wonderland".

I got this floral blazer from Persun. I was talking about not owning any proper blazers/jackets in this post. Now I have this and hopefully will get a few more soon. I quite like that it is not an outright and obvious floral pattern (even though I love those as well). I also like the colours in it, reminds me of Japanese cherry blossoms.

Goodbye Gypsies

Most of the festivities are over. I overindulged in all sorts of heavy eating all those days and then went through a juice/smoothie cleanse yesterday. My internet was down and now it is back. So, what does that lead one to? Endless ponderings of the other kind, of course. Have you ever felt like you are stuck, not mentally, but physically in a place where you are surrounded by things, and people you are not being able to breathe in, because they are too insipid, like insipid tea which only ever smells like boiled water at the best? Somewhere from where you can see the door to another world, another dimension but, it is always closed to you, because a band of gypsies reached earlier and are not letting in any more new spirits, they have formed their own song, they don't want to share the tune with you? Do you ever feel this way? Where inspiration pours in and suddenly tips all over the carpet rug and I loose it all, all of a sudden, just like that. I see photographs captured in this matte red and yellow world, the people in it, people I assume are happy people, people I can breathe in, but, they won't let me in. More importantly people I won't ever walk up to, I would hang back and enjoy this lost world, other world feel, and assume they are not insipid even when they are, even they are as sad as anyone can be, even when they seemed that way only because the photograph said so. This is one of those posts where I do not talk about fashion, lifestyle and try to be someone I desperately want to be, maybe I already am that person most of the times, but this is one of those posts where I talk like I am some author painting this world where only your imagination and your eyes will help you to travel to. I am not romanticising the gypsy lifestyle, I am just wishing I was living on the other side, living a romantic life, where I touched a golden thread and cocooned my existence in it, where everything I created aspired to be a part of such a fanciful world .
Don't you wish it too sometimes?

I Put Some New Shoes On

"And suddenly everything is right!"

I love this Paul Nutini song. It is technically about new shoes but actually could be interpreted as letting the old shitty things go, letting yourself accept change and see how life just becomes jazzier after doing so. Or maybe I have had my brain addled with too much green tea.
Who really knows!

What do you think I styled these with?

I'm A 90'ies B*tch

blue hair streaks, red lips

Currently playing in a loop in my head, my PC playlist and my phone.
This is a song you guys!

"I love it"
 by
Icona Pop (ft. Charli XCX)
A good dose of indie pop+punk+electro house
1990-2010 sort of merges in our minds as a single decade because of similar styles, music and other cultural influences. This song & its video essentially has everything I loved about these 2 decades even though it came out in 2012.
Discovery c/o R.
And this is not grunge. Grunge is more poetic, depressed and slower, whereas punk is fast paced, angry at everything and anything. Grunge is also dissatisfied (who isn't!) with everything but with a marked difference, though influenced by punk, it tends to be darker in theme and expression.
Neither Avril Lavigne nor Miley Cyrus are punk musicians. They both sing pop, teeny bopper kind of songs irrespective of their occasional personal style choices. You won't believe how many people actually believed Avril was a punk musician back in her days.
There you go, Grunge/Punk music+style lesson 101 for the day.

Just Plaiding Around

"If you love someone and they want to leave, let them go. If they come back then no one else wanted them either"

some anonymous genius meme maker who tweaked that stupid soppy original quote
Now onto the clothes

black mango turtle neck dress, romwe retro round glasses, blue plaid shirt

bellast dollar bag bracelet

bellast dollar bag bracelet

Dress - Mango
Plaid Shirt - errr..forgot! (It's strange that the song "Mere Khawabo Mein Jo Aye" from DDLJ popped up on the shuffle playlist as I work on this post when I had mentioned the 1st time I featured this shirt on the blog that this song had the character Simran wearing a similar white shirt which inspired me to buy this.)
Round Glasses - c/o Romwe
Bracelet - c/o Bellast
Ring - c/o Rooja

About the bracelet: I got them from this website called Bellast. They sell all kinds of fine jewellery online at affordable prices. I have seen them around on other blogs. It took them around 5 days to process the order. The shipping time given was 8-15 days and I got the bracelet in 15 days. Needless to say I am very happy with this as sites which make deliveries within the time promised are always welcome.
I chose this piece because it has these solid golden money bags filled with imaginary dollars. I feel like my hands look bare with certain looks where I cannot pair the outfit with a chunky bracelet and this is dainty yet cheeky. I think you should look into their other stuff. Find the bracelet *here*.

Burnished

"Our hands they seek the end of afternoon
My hands believe and move over you

Tonight, we're the sea and the rhythm there
The waves and the wind and night is black
Tonight we're the scent of your long black hair
Spread out like your breath  across my back
Your hands they move like waves over me
Beneath the moon, tonight, we're the sea"

Dress/Kurti - Howrah Bridge(previously featured *here*)
Necklace - c/o efoxcity

Now about efoxcity - I blogged about them before (read post *here*) and they asked me to choose something I like from their jewellery section. It took around 5 days to process the order and around 30 days to reach me. It was just as described on the website. You get what you see and their customer service is pretty prompt. Check them out for other trendy and affordable items. They also have mens clothing, cheap designer jackets for women, men's hoodies.
Coming to the kurti/dress - This is the only Indian wear I own, as strange as that sounds. I usually steal something from my sister's huge collection of Indian wear if I am in the mood to wear them. And I have been waiting for the perfect way to wear this on the blog and here I am. Perfect or not I am happy and I love wearing it. And see it has those amazing pockets I keep telling you I absolutely love...and the endless black and white chevron print trapped between pink, blue and gold (well yellow technically).
