I Know 60s Mod

IKNOW mod dress
Winter chill is finally here. Well it came and has mellowed down already. I start the new year on this blog with a cheerful post about an outfit I have been dying to present for a long time. I have realised I hate the concept of waiting to publish a post after it is done already. I have another one in the draft. But let's talk about this one now.
When I saw this dress over at I KNOW (remember I talked about them here?) I knew I was going to get my hands on it. It is a bit more fitted than I like to wear when it arrived but nothing that can't be solved with the help of a good jacket/blazer. This sleeveless dress has a boat neckline and a 60s mod geometric pattern which I love. Keeping in theme I drew on the winged liner with a pop of electric blue at the inner corners and kept the lips nude, also borrowed this blazer from dad's closet. I think the mod subculture is one of the coolest out there and I draw inspiration from it quite often. Well I find quite a few subcultures highly interesting, I mean who wouldn't! I am not going to say that I wish I lived in that period because living in the present means you get to live in the most advanced age at least technologically. I may sound like I am trying to sound like a mod. Ok, weird sentence, let me rephrase. Mods believed they have to look good, accept change, embrace modern technologies, appreciate hard work and not let things slow you down. Well I don't mind slowing things down. And I like things which may help relax the mind. I have the spirit of hippies most definitely. But I am also the culmination of every modern influence out there. I also wish I could present a photo of me smiling to usher in the new year, but I did not know that would be the purpose of this post a couple of weeks back.

I want to thank the guys at I KNOW for sending me this dress!
And a big congratulations for the launch of your brand. All the best for your future!

  7. I really like how you look in this dress. I think it's one I would want to have for myself too. The jacket looks nice with it too. I didn't really know what "Mod" was before, but now that you have explained it, I think I am quite Mod.

  9. I LOVED this dress too! (Though didn't get it as I knew it would be too tight around the tummy.....this shape is not meant for my body...sadly!) I love this retro shift dresses with geometric panels (a lot of my own designs are like this as well...)

And pairing it with your dad's blazer was a nice idea as well! And I wish I could see the whole thing WITH the shoes in one shot.....looks nice! :)
