Who decides what things are aesthetically pleasing? It is said beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Your ugly can be my beauty.
In the ongoing debate of what is more beautiful - skinny or curvy, I sometimes feel bad at the negativity fatter girls (note girls, men somehow are spared on a larger scale though I agree not entirely) receive. My being a size 14 and dressing in L or sometimes XL doesn't affect my sense of style or my knowledge of fashion. I have nothing against skinny people even though though my skinnier counterpart will be much more appreciated in the fashion world even though we are wearing the exact same thing. This is not what I think, this is something I saw floating around the Internet. It is equally unhealthy to be downright skinny or absolutely obese.
I don't mean to post a rant. But there are too many skinny defenders out there who in some backhanded way look down upon bigger girls. I am just defending me in a way. I am fat, I love fashion, I have a sense of style. But I am more than that.
Will I ever want to be skinny?
I don't. But if I lose weight to become even a size8 somehow I will still be me. I won't say things like "that is the kind of thighs I prefer," "fat people make me nauseous," or "oo! look how thin she is, she must starve herself."
Stand up against this sort of bullying!

"Since the British Fashion Council's 2007 Model Health Enquiry, the issue has never been far from the headlines, but the past 12 months have seen good progress in bringing diversity to the glossies. In June 2009, the editor of British Vogue, Alexandra Shulman, wrote a letter to designers asking them to adjust their sizings because her magazine had been photoshopping models to look bigger, after "minuscule sizes" forced them to hire models with "jutting bones and no breasts or hips".Two months later, American Glamour printed a picture of size 12 Lizzie Miller, in which a roll of stomach was clearly visible; then Germany's most popular women's magazine, Brigitte, pledged only to use real women in its shoots; and in January 2010 V ran a "size issue", in which the photographer Terry Richardson shot the sample-sized Jacquelyn Jablonski next to the size 16 supermodel Crystal Renn."The fashion world needs to change," Renn told The Independent. "Women on the street don't relate to all this talk of plus sizes, and it creates an "us and them" mentality within the industry, which leads to comments like the ones Julien MacDonald has made."But Katie Grand, the editor of Love magazine, which used a naked Beth Ditto on its inaugural cover, said: "There are plenty of celebrities and models who are extremely successful financially and have great credibility, who are not necessarily 'sample size'.
